Current Board Members

 

Founder

Vikki Krysov

Vikki is a UC Davis ’21 graduate who majored in the Biological Sciences and minored in Communications. She is currently attending medical school in California. She was inspired to create StudentSphere after seeing the challenges members of her own community had faced due to the pandemic. She is thrilled to be working on this project and hopes that it can bring students together and support their educational goals.

Vikki enjoys working with students and has five years of experience working as a camp counselor and tutor for elementary and middle school students. At UC Davis, Vikki was a resident advisor, a researcher, and a co-director of a student-run health clinic. In her free time, Vikki enjoys dancing, hiking, and exploring new places.

 

Co-Founder

Michelle Balshin

Michelle is a UC Davis ’21 graduate who studied Neurobiology, Physiology, and Behavior, as well as Anthropology. She is currently attending A.T. Still University SOMA, pursuing an osteopathic degree. Michelle is ecstatic to be working with her peers to bring forth educational support to children nationwide, while simultaneously breaking barriers.

Michelle has been a tutor for seven years, working with students from 1st to 12th grade in various subjects. Additionally, Michelle danced Latin Ballroom for 11 years where she used her experiences to teach toddlers brief routines and keep them active. Given our current unprecedented times, she hopes to provide relief, whether it be school related, socializing, or even dancing, to those who have been impacted by the pandemic.

 

Communications Director

Flora Zhang

Flora is a UC Santa Barbara ’22 graduate. She loves working with children and education. She has worked as a tutor throughout high school and college, which prompted her to join as a mentor initially. She is proud to be a part of the StudentSphere team in connecting with more college students and mentees. 

She is currently a post-baccalaureate student at Oregon State University. She is a part of Hackathon Club and a SWEster ambassador at OSU. After finishing her post-baccalaureate, she hopes to become a software engineer. She loves giving back to her community and volunteering. In her free time, she likes taking walks, playing Pokemon Go and other video games, or spending time with her pet hamster, Gibbs.

 

Social Media Manager

Emma Stepanian

Emma is a ’22 CSU, Northridge graduate who studied General Biology and wishes to pursue her career in dentistry in the coming years. She enjoys spending time with her loved ones and volunteering during her free time. Emma has found a passion for helping others, especially young students. She has previously volunteered at at a non profit organization, Children’s hunger fund and spent her early college years working as a teachers assistant at a daycare.

Her life experiences have taught her that not all children share the same educational resources and therefore many don’t have access to productive learning environments. For this reason she enrolled in Student Sphere to become a mentor. She wishes to foster a safe space where students can feel comfortable asking for help and furthering their education. She wishes to inspire students to pursue their goals whatever they may be.

Public Relations Intern

Isabelle Schlegel

Isabelle is a third-year Human Biology and Spanish student at UC Davis. She loves to form new connections and especially loves working with kids. She has tutored, worked as a teaching assistant, and mentored students from 3rd to 12th grade. She looks forward to working with her team to expand StudentSphere!

Isabelle is especially passionate about medicine and art. At UC Davis, she has enjoyed being a part of various art and premedical clubs. In her free time, Isabelle loves to read, take and edit pictures, and learn about fashion.

Social Media Manager

Ariella Hayden (04/20 – 08/21)

Ariella is a San Diego State University ’21 graduate who majored in Journalism with an emphasis in Advertising and minored in Social and Personality Psychology. She is happy to bring her knowledge and skills in social media marketing to the StudentSphere team.

Ariella discovered her passion for social media marketing during her freshman year at San Diego State. Since then, she has gained valuable knowledge and experience through various coursework as well as an internship for a boutique social media marketing agency. She loves to create digital content, whether that means writing, taking photos, or designing graphics.

Ayane Mochizuki (09/20 – 03/21)

Ayane is a UC Davis ’21 graduate who studied Neurobiology, Physiology & Behavior, and Psychology. Joining as a mentor, she saw the program’s impact on her mentees and their families. She is enthusiastic and motivated to share this program with more families so they have the resources to receive support.

Alongside tutoring, Ayane volunteers her time leading young athletes in a non-profit organization dedicated to decreasing injuries in gymnastics. After she graduates, she hopes to attend graduate school to pursue a career in Physical Therapy. She deeply enjoys working with people as she learns and grows from every interaction.

Isabella Morimoto (03/21 – 10/21)

Isabella is a fourth-year student at UC Davis majoring in Neurobiology, Physiology, and Behavior. She is excited to be working with the StudentSphere team to bring students together.

Isabella is passionate about helping students find their paths. She has volunteered as a tutor and science presenter for elementary school students and has worked as a swim instructor. She has also served at a student-run clinic, at a local hospital, and as a crisis counselor. At UC Davis, she has enjoyed working as a resident advisor, dancing ballet with her team, and serving as an officer for various student-run organizations. In her free time, Isabella loves drinking boba and learning random new crafts.
